Introduction :


Electronics, particularly computer usage coupled with recent space age, has by this time already crept into every sphere of human activities. Every industry, institution & organization feels the need for an Electronics Engineer. Today’s world is very much for and of the Electronics & Communication Engineers. Advanced countries in the world have gone to such depths of Electronics today that an Electronics Engineer is indispensable in every front.

Opportunity in this highly sophisticated and advanced branch of engineering is just immense. Electronics is now a part of our every day life, from our pocket FM radio to televisions, computers, mobile phones and even the high-end satellites that process and send images.

Definition:


Electronics and communication engineering is an engineering discipline which uses the scientific knowledge of the behavior and effects of electrons to develop components, devices, systems, or equipment that uses electricity as part of its driving force. The engineering field encompasses many subfields including those that deal with power, instrumentation engineering, telecommunications, semiconductor circuit design, and many others.

Core subjects:


Electromagnets, electronics, electrical circuits and machines, signals and systems, digital signal processing, microprocessors and embedded systems, communications systems, optical systems and VLSI.

HIGHER EDUCATION:

After completing Btech/B.E, students can opt for M.tech/M.S in various subjects such as fiber optics and light waves, micro electronics &VLSI design, RF and microwaves, telecommunication systems, visual information and embedded systems.

Job prospects:

There are plenty of jobs for skilled electronics engineers with post secondary qualifications. An electronics engineer can get a job in the Central Government, State Governments and their sponsored corporations in public enterprises and the private organizations like All India Radio, Indian Telephone Industries, MTNL, AIR, Civil Aviation Department; Post and Telegraph Department; Co-ordination Department, National Physical Laboratory, Bharat Electronics Limited, Development Centers in various States etc. dealing in manufacture, sales and services of electronics consumer goods and appliances. Electronics engineers are also absorbed into the entertainment, transmission industry, research establishments, and defence. They can also take up teaching and research in one of the many engineering colleges in India or abroad.

Top recruiters:

PSUs such as BEL, DRMC and MNCs such as Siemens, Texas instruments, Intel, Nvidia, Philips electronics, Motorola, Samsung and Flextronics. DRDO, ISRO and IT companies like Infosys, TCS, Wipro, Accenture, HCL Technologies and Tech Mahindra also recruit Electronic engineers.

Pay:

Earnings of an electronic engineer vary with market demand and among organisations. Working experience, qualifications, ability are important factors in determining the pay level. The trainee engineer earns Rs 20,000- 30,000 per month. A middle level technical professional gets Rs 70,000- 80,000 a month. A senior manager earns Rs 1.5 lakh a month.

Skills:

Strong logical and analytical skills, problem solving skills and must have a creative thought and should be aware of the developments in the technology.

RGUKT denies the false reports in the media about the missing of a girl student from its Basar campus, today. The fact is that she was taken by her parents to their home with the permission of the director and she was missing from the custody of her parents. However, we are concerned and would render our help to the parents for her return.

RGUKT-IIIT Admissions-2010 Basar-Nuzvid-Kadapa (Idupulapaya) | Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies Notification 2010

Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT)- an innovative project to provide quality engineering education to meritorious rural students is set to issue notification for admissions 2010. Three IIITs (International Institute of Information Technologies) are established under RGUKT. These are located at Basara (Adilabad), Nuzivedu (Krishna) and Rajiv Knowledge Valley (Idupulapaya- Kadapa).

Courses offered at RGUKT - IIITs:

There will be maximum of 6 years training in these institutions. Dual Degrees are offered in Engineering with focus on IT and Domain Specialisation. Initial two years of the course will be considered ad Pre University Training.
There has been a proposal to introduce PG and Ph.D. and Job oriented courses in IIITs in Andhra Pradesh.

Total seats: 3000 (1000 each in three IIITs- This year total seats reduced from 6000 to 3000)
* Seats reserved for State Merit quota: 450
* Seats for Mandal level merit students: 2550
* Seats for Govt / Aided Schools: 70%
* Seats for Private residential Schools: 20%
* Seats for AP Residential Schools students: 10 %

Eligibility:
These institutions and courses are specially designed for SSC / 10th class pass out from rural areas. Candidates will be selected based on their marks at the Mandal / District level. Merit students lists are available on RGUKT website.

Application Process:
* Applications are available at designed Andhra Bank and SBH Branches in the state from 10th May 2010. These Banks branches details available on RGUKT website mentioned below.
* Candidates shall apply online / offline. Applications of IIITs available at all IIITs also from 7th May 2010.
* Off line application fee: Rs. 100
* Online application fee: Rs. 50

  1. The total area of each campus is 146.25 acres.
  2. Built up area of Basar Campus is 6, 36,335.54Sqfts.
  3. The Hostel has 887 dormitories built over an area of 4,23,667 Sq ft.

    • There are 84 Classrooms at RGUKT Basar.
    • There are 12 Labs at RGUKT Basar.
    • There are 2 staff rooms.
  5. The number of messes available are 20 built over an area of 86,650 Sq.m.
  6. There is one Library available for RGUKT Basar where the students can study after study hours.
  7. Student’s extracurricular activities:
    • Students participate actively in Cultural activities, Elocution and Essay writing competitions.
